Gottlieb Memorial Hospital issued the following announcement on Jan. 30.
As temperatures reach dangerous levels, it's crucial to keep track of how long you are exposed to the cold to help prevent frostbite and its damaging effects to the body.
According to Arthur Sanford, a Loyola Medicine burns and trauma surgeon, ".a lot of people don't come to the hospital fast enough, and so we see people a day or two later, with already irreversible damage to their affected areas."
