City of Northlake Youth Commission met June 13.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
The minutes of the, May 9, 2018 meeting were read. A motion was made by John to accept the minutes. Veronica seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Old Business:
1. Kids' Patriotic Craft Night-6/13/18 - 31 people attended this event. We have never had a Craft Night devoted to this theme before. The kids seemed to really like all of the items. Many kids made all 8 of the craft options.
2. Kids' Bingo - 7/11/18 - 6-8 pm - This will take place after our 5:30pm meeting at the Sandy Vazquez Community Center. Sharon passed out fliers at the Patriotic Craft Night on 6/13 to advertise this event. It is Sharon's and Veronica's turn to buy the prizes. Everyone should show up by 5:15PM at the latest.
3. Kids' Themed Craft Night - 8/8/18 - We still need a theme. Sharon did some investigation into Lego crafts and came up with no viable options. Small individual kits are not plentiful and are simply out of our price range. Francine suggested contacting the company directly to explore possibilities. Veronica mentioned a LEGO play place in Schaumburg to see if they could provide ideas. The investigation continues. We also discussed other kinds of crafts besides the foam type that Oriental offers. Francine suggested contacting Home Depot who used to offer a wood craft during Northlake Days. Oriental has crafts that involve painting, but that could be a messy disaster. We want to offer more variety & will continue to seek new options. We have plenty of supplies left to run sand crafts. Veronica thinks we have enough containers. We would only need to order more sand and possibly raffles. This is a good back-up plan.

There was no other business discussed. Sharon moved for adjournment, seconded by John. All were in favor. Youth Commission Chairperson, Sheila Morgan, adjourned the meeting at 5:45 pm.
