Oak Park Village Clerk issued the following announcement on June 18.
Local housing officials are conducting a free seminar for condominium owners and association board members to focus on changes to Illinois' Condominium Property Act.
The seminar will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 28 in Room 101 at Village Hall, 123 Madison Street. The event is hosted by the Village's Neighborhood Services Division and Mastercare Building Services.
Attorney Gabriella Comstock of Keough & Moody, specialists in legal services for condominium and homeowners’ associations, will guide attendees through recent changes to the state law related to the following:
Disposition of surplus funds over actual expenses
Sale of the property (deconversions)
Increases in regular or special assessments
Contracts with board members
Rules permitting voting by mail in ballot or electronic voting
Capital improvement projects
Generally accepted accounting principles
Association records to be maintained
Legal combination of units
Rules requiring unit owner contact list
