Analysis: River Forest pays $5.14 for every $1 pensioners contribute to River Forest Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 83.6 percent of the $1,132,744 the River Forest Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.14 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, River Forest contributed $946,756 to the fund, which saw a $128,645 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $184,123, or 16.3 percent, in 2016. Another $1,865 came from other unspecified sources.
