Analysis: Elmwood Park pays $5.31 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Elmwood Park Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84 percent of the $1,375,861 the Elmwood Park Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.31 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Elmwood Park contributed $1,156,262 to the fund, which saw a $50,052 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $217,439, or 15.8 percent, in 2016. Another $2,160 came from other unspecified sources.
