Analysis: Brookfield pays $4.39 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Brookfield Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 81.1 percent of the $1,160,169 the Brookfield Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.39 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Brookfield contributed $941,093 to the fund, which saw a $51,486 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $214,304, or 18.5 percent, in 2016. Another $4,772 came from other unspecified sources.
