Analysis: Berwyn pays $2.27 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Berwyn Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 69.1 percent of the $2,277,301 the Berwyn Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $2.27 for every $1 from pension members, according to a West Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Berwyn contributed $1,573,440 to the fund, which saw a $14,917,192 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $692,483, or 30.4 percent, in 2016. Another $11,378 came from other unspecified sources.
