The calls in Bellwood included 88 fires - 50 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 25 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $364,500 in fire loss - or about $4,142 per fire.
The department also received 265 false calls, including two malicious calls and 263 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The Bellwood Fire, which has 24 active employees and 31 retired or inactive employees, was $1,509,256 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $17,151 for every fire in 2016.
