Franklin Park FD responds to 29 fires in 2016

Franklin Park Fire Department responded to 332 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the West Cook News.

The calls in Franklin Park included 29 fires - 18 structure fires, four vehicle fires and seven other fires.

In all, the department saw $16,200 in fire loss - or about $559 per fire.

The department also received 303 false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Franklin Park Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 42 active employees and 52 retired or inactive employees, was $2,347,488 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $80,948 for every fire in 2016.
