Hillside Board of Trustees promotes police officers

The village of Hillside Board of Trustees met Oct. 24 to promote police officers.

6. VILLAGE CLERK:

A. Reminder: Mail Ballot Applications for the November 8th

Presidential Election are now available at the Village Hall

and at www.cookcountyclerk.com.

B. Reminder: Early voting for November 8, 2016 Presidential

Election is October 24th to November 7th. Nearest polling

places to Hillside are the Villages of Bellwood, 3200

Washington, or Melrose Park, 1000 N. 25th Avenue.

Hours vary. Information in October issue of the Hillside

Happenings.

C. Reminder: Village offices will be closed Friday,

November 11, and Saturday, November 12, 2016, in

observance of Veterans Day.

D. Oaths of Office to Ken Carling, promotion to Captain; and

Marco DeVito, promotion to Lieutenant.

E. CONSENT AGENDA

All items on the Consent Agenda are considered to be

routine in nature and will be enacted in one motion.

There will be no separate discussion of these items

unless a Board member so requests, in which event, the

item will be removed from the Consent Agenda and

considered a part of the Board Member’s committee

business.

for month of August, 2016, in the amount of

$374,607.18. Amount received for August, 2015, in the

amount of $319,327.57.

2. Illinois Department of Transportation: Motor Fuel

Tax allotment for the month of September, 2016, in

the amount of $15,644.09.

3. Approval of gross payroll for periods September 17,

through September 30 2016, in the amount of

$272,511.65, and October 1 through October 14, 2016,

in the amount of $308,651.89.

4. Payment of bills for the month of October, 2016, in the

amount of $968,821.81.

5. Com Ed: Utility tax for the month of July, 2016, in

the amount of $40,698.51.

6. NiCor Gas: Utility Tax for the month of August, 2016,

in the amount of $4,168.78.

7. Excise Tax for the month of August, 2016, in the amount

of $23,244.38.

8. Code Enforcement Officer’s Report (September, 2016).

Project, and authorizing Mayor to sign and execute

same.

2. Motion to approve Supplemental Agreement with IDOT for

engineering on Butterfield Road Project, and

authorizing Mayor to sign and execute same.

3. Motion to approve payment in the amount of $42,452.38

to Lyons-Pinner Electric Company, 650 E. Elm Avenue,

LaGrange, IL 60525, for ornamental lighting and traffic

signal painting for Wolf Road Project.

4. Motion to approve payment in the amount of $7,508.81 to

K2N Crest, 1010 Jorie Boulevard, Suite 320, Oak Brook,

IL 60523, for engineering and construction services

related to the façade and roof repairs associated with

431 Hillside Avenue.

5. Motion to approve payment in the amount of $27,275.00

to Langos Corp., 124 Deepwood Road, Barrington Hills,

IL 60010, for demolition and restoration of

309 Oak Ridge.

6. Motion to approve payment in the amount of $27,275.00

to Langos Corp., 124 Deepwood Road, Barrington Hills,

IL 60010, for demolition and restoration of

C. Public Safety Committee: (Trustee Watson)

1. Letter received from Police Sgt. Chuck Strebar

announcing his retirement, effective January 5, 2017.

2. Motion to authorize the Village Administrator to

contact the Fire and Police Commission and have them

promote a sergeant from the current promotional list.

Vacancy is being created due to Chuck Strebar’s

retirement.

D. Planning, Zoning and Legislative Committee: (Trustee

Delgado)

1. Motion to approve Agreement for Professional Services

between the Village of Hillside and Peckham Guyton

Albers & Viets Inc. for consultation on future site

plans and research, and authorizing Mayor and Clerk to

sign and execute same.

2. Motion to approve FY 2015-2016 membership for

Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, in the amount of $367.07,

based on $0.045 per capita.

3. Motion to approve National League of Cities membership

dues for period February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2018,

in the amount of $1,117.00.

E. Environmental Committee: (Trustee Lomeli)

F. Community Relations Committee: (Trustee Farries)

1. Hillside Youth Commission is hosting Halloween

Festivities at the Hillside Commons on Monday,

October 31, 2016. Costume judging will begin at

6:30 p.m., followed by the bonfire.

Trick or Treating hours are 2:00–6:00 p.m.

A. Public Safety Committee: (Trustee Watson)

1. Motion to approve Ordinance 16-11 to amend Article II

(Fire Department) of Chapter 34 Firefighters Pension

Fund Board, and authorizing Mayor and Clerk to sign

and execute same.

B. Planning, Zoning and Legislative Committee: (Trustee

Delgado)

1. Motion to approve Resolution 16-06 supporting a

Class B designation for Belden Universal, for property

commonly known as 4100 Madison, Hillside, IL, and

authorizing Mayor and Clerk to sign and execute same.

13. VILLAGE PRESIDENT:

A. Veterans reception to be held Wednesday, November 2, 2016,

from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Best Western.

Refreshments and Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

Invitations will be in the mail.

B. Hillside’s 14th Annual Veterans Day Parade is Saturday,

November 5, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. Grand Marshal is Hillside

resident and WWII U.S. Navy Veteran, John W. Gore, Jr.

A. Next Board-of-a-Whole Meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M.

on Monday, November 14, in the Board Room of the Municipal

Complex, 425 Hillside Avenue, Hillside, IL, 60162.
