Playground products, police cars and policy matters topped the agenda at Maywood’s recent Legal, License and Ordinance Committee meeting.
Mayor Edwenna Perkins began the meeting by presenting a report with the theme “A shift is coming, things are changing in our favor, when the people get a mind to work."
Village Manager Willie Norfleet Jr. reported on an array of topics ranging from financial service agreements to public park equipment, specifically a quote received from NuToys Leisure Products Inc. for $14,515.15 to remove old playground structures in the town's parks and install new equipment.
Norfleet also reviewed a status report by the Cook County Sheriff's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) concerning renewal of the OIG program.
The board also discussed tobacco-licensing and water-billing issues.
Additionally, the committee discussed purchasing a used vehicle outright for the Maywood Police Department for $10,645 and waiving the bid process, as well as purchasing two computers for the Fire Department for $7,230, also without a bid process.
Norfleet reminded participants about the Cook County Community Development Block Grant 2016 application. The federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) strives to carry out Title 1 objectives of the 1974 Housing and Community Development Act, primarily for low- and moderate-income residents.
