With the 2016 open-enrollment period for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act having closed on Jan. 31, officials from the Illinois Medical District Commission (IMDC) recently reminded low-income Cook County residents of another option.
IMDC Executive Director Dr. Suzet McKinney highlighted the CountyCare program, which provides no-cost insurance to qualified families in Cook County.
The program is accepted at more than 130 clinics and hospitals for a wide variety of services.
Interested residents are encouraged to call 312-864-8200 or toll-free at 1-855-444-1661 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays for more information; or go to the website: www.countycare.com.
