At least 15 percent of its 21,914 employees serve in these secretarial roles, according to a West Cook News analysis of employee records.
Of all Cook County employees, 3,387 are identified as “administrative assistant” or “clerk.” Their payroll amounted to $165,906,965 in 2014.
The average pay of these employees was $48,983, before taxpayer-funded pension contribution.
Thomas M. Sullivan, Raymond Schofield and Timnetra Burruss each earned $114,622 as administrative assistants to the Cook County Board of Review.
Frank D. Host of Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood earned $103,742 as administrative assistant to State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Mary Pat Cross of Wilmette earned $94,702 as administrative assistant to Eileen Figel, deputy superintendent of the Cook County Forest Preserve.
Figel earns $155,172.
