Cook County has announced changes to its Homeowner Relief Fund, a $15 million initiative aimed at supporting households facing significant increases in property tax bills. The County is expanding eligibility requirements and extending the application deadline to October 31, 2025.

The program, managed by the Cook County Bureau of Economic Development, offers one-time payments of $1,000 to qualifying households. According to officials, funding for the program is limited.

Applications will be accepted through an online portal until 11:59 p.m. on October 31, 2025. The process will occur in two phases to help ensure that relief reaches eligible households while also reducing the documentation burden for applicants.

For more information and full details about the program, residents are encouraged to visit the Cook County Homeowner Relief Fund web portal.
