Families gathered at Cicero Community Park to mark the end of summer with a community celebration featuring bounce houses, a petting zoo, live entertainment, and cultural performances. Town President Larry Dominick and First Lady Diana Dominick joined residents for the event.
“Our goal has always been to make Cicero a place where families can come together, enjoy themselves, and feel safe,” said Town President Larry Dominick. “Seeing the park filled with kids laughing, families celebrating, and our community united is what makes events like this so special.”
First Lady Diana Dominick also commented on the significance of such gatherings for local families.
“These events are all about families and making memories,” said Mrs. Dominick. “It’s wonderful to see our children performing, our parents cheering them on, and neighbors enjoying the evening together. This is what Cicero is all about—community, culture, and family.”
A main feature of the evening was a tribute concert to Sonora Santanera performed by more than 40 students from JR Music School under founder Gerardo Ramirez. Ramirez noted that his school has now been open for 11 years and thanked the Town of Cicero for its support.
“It’s an amazing experience. I think people enjoyed it a lot,” Ramirez said. “We want to keep working with these kids to make it better and better.”
Esmeralda Garcia, a student who has attended JR Music School since age five, shared her enthusiasm: “I love singing, and I was so excited for this moment. When I grow up, I want to be a singer,” she said.
Community leaders described the event as both entertainment and an investment in local youth. Residents recognized organizers’ efforts in creating an inclusive environment for families.
Patty Salerno, Special Events Director overseeing Summer in the Park activities, thanked those involved in organizing the series.
“This is truly a team effort, and I want to thank all the volunteers, staff, and performers who worked so hard to make every event possible,” said Salerno. “Our goal is always to bring joy and unity to Cicero families, and judging by the smiles we saw all summer long, I believe we accomplished that.”
The night included expressions of gratitude from attendees along with music that encouraged dancing among participants.
Also present at the event were Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias; Trustees Victor Garcia and Blanca Vargas; as well as Business License Director Ismael Vargas.
