Public Works crews in the Village of Western Springs are working to clear streets after recent high winds caused many large tree limbs to fall. The department is surveying village streets and removing debris from public parkway trees. Residents are being asked for patience as cleanup efforts continue throughout the community.

For branches that have fallen from privately owned trees, Lake Shore Recycling Services Inc. will collect them if they are bundled according to specific guidelines. Bundles must be tied, measure no more than 4 feet by 4 feet, and have a diameter no larger than 2 feet. Each bundle must also have a sticker attached. More information can be found in the LRS Household Waste, Recycling, and Yard Waste Reference Guide (PDF).

Officials remind residents not to place fallen branches in the street, as this can create hazards for drivers and block storm sewers. All branches intended for collection should be placed on the parkway.
