The Cicero Town Board has approved the promotions of six firefighters from the Cicero Fire Department. The ceremony, which took place on May 27, 2025, at Town Hall, was led by Fire Chief Jeff Penzkofer.

“These men have earned this moment through hard work, skill, and their commitment to protecting our community,” stated Chief Penzkofer. “We’re proud to recognize them today.”

Three engineers were promoted to lieutenants. Chief Penzkofer administered the oath of office as each newly promoted lieutenant pledged to uphold the Constitution and the ordinances of the Town of Cicero.

The new lieutenants are Mark Kaluga, Mathew Saternus, and Timothy Medina. They received applause from fellow firefighters, town officials, and family members who attended in support.

Additionally, three firefighters were promoted to engineers during the ceremony. Each was sworn in and acknowledged for their dedication and service.

The newly appointed engineers are James Curda, Joel Mulbrandon, and Angelo Buscemi. They received congratulations as they stepped into their new roles.

Town President Larry Dominick congratulated the group with a remark: “I know you’re all hardworking men, and I also know you’re going to have to work a little harder now,” he said with a smile. “We have the best fire department, the best police department, and the best public works in any town—I guarantee it. Thank you for everything you do.”

These promotions underscore the Cicero Fire Department’s ongoing commitment to leadership excellence and public safety.
