Brookfield Village Hall closes for Memorial Day; VFW hosts ceremony

Brookfield Village Hall offices will be closed on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. The front window of the Brookfield Police Department lobby will also not be open. For emergencies requiring police or fire assistance, residents should dial 9-1-1. Non-emergency matters can be addressed by calling the police/fire non-emergency line at 708-485-8131.

Residents who need to speak with a police officer in person can visit the Brookfield Police Department lobby inside the Brookfield Village Hall at 8820 Brookfield Ave., where they can use the red phone to contact an officer on duty.

Trash collection usually scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday instead. The Brookfield Village Hall offices are set to reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27.

The Joshua Harris Memorial VFW Post 2868 is organizing a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m. This event will take place at Veterans Memorial Park located at Grand and Sunnyside Avenues. It will include a bugler performance, the singing of the National Anthem, and a keynote speaker. The public is welcome to attend.

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited by the VFW to enjoy a light lunch at their post situated at 8844 Ogden Ave. in Brookfield.
