As summer nears, ComEd customers might experience a rise in energy costs due to a recent energy capacity auction conducted by PJM. PJM manages the energy grid and electricity market across 13 states and Washington D.C., including northern Illinois. The auction resulted in increased energy supply costs, which are passed through to ComEd customers without any markup or profit for the company.
ComEd acknowledges that rising energy supply costs can pose challenges for many households. To assist customers in managing their energy usage and expenses, ComEd is promoting various bill assistance and energy management programs.
These programs include flexible payment arrangements, one-time financial assistance, high-usage alerts, and energy-saving tips. In 2024 alone, ComEd connected over 229,000 customers with more than $113 million in support.
