Later that day, another tweet was posted commemorating a fallen officer during National Police Week. The department stated, "This week is National Police Week and our late colleague Det. Allan Reddins was honored in a series of events in Washington, D.C. Det. Reddins was killed on Nov. 29, 2024 while responding to a call on Lake Street." On May 16, the department announced an event aimed at raising funds for Special Olympics Illinois. They invited community members to participate in the "Cop On A Rooftop" initiative by stating, "Today is the day for the statewide Cop On A Rooftop event! Stop by the Dunkin Donuts at 6820 Roosevelt Rd. anytime today (May 16) before noon and help Oak Park Police raise money to benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois."
