Congressman Jesús "Chuy" García, who has been serving Illinois' 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, continues to actively voice his concerns and recognize community achievements. In a series of recent tweets, he addressed both legislative issues and celebrated local triumphs.

On April 11, 2025, García criticized a policy enacted by the Department of Homeland Security. He stated, "Trump’s new DHS rule goes into effect today, requiring some non-citizens to register with the government. If this could affect you, please speak with a trusted immigration attorney about your options, stay informed, and know your rights. Congress must repeal the shameful, racist". This statement underscores his stance against policies he considers discriminatory.

In his subsequent tweet on the same day, he reaffirmed his position in Spanish, "La nueva regla de DHS de Trump entra en vigor hoy y exige que algunos inmigrantes se registren ante el gobierno. Si esto le afecta a usted, hable con un abogado de inmigración sobre sus opciones, manténgase informado y conozca sus derechos. El Congreso debe derogar la ley". By addressing the same issue in Spanish, García ensures that a broader audience, including Spanish-speaking constituents, is informed about the implications of the policy.

The following day, April 12, García shifted focus from policy to community support by congratulating a local sports team, "Congratulations @boycphs on this incredible win!". This tweet reflects his engagement with and support for local accomplishments.

García, born in Durango, Mexico in 1956, currently resides in Chicago. His career includes service in the Illinois Senate and on the Cook County Board of Commissioners. His diverse experiences and longstanding commitment to public service shape his advocacy and connection with his constituents.
