The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (DoTH) has unveiled its 2025 highway construction project map. Developed by the Cook County Bureau of Technology's Geographic Information Systems Division, the interactive map provides details on construction projects that are currently in progress or scheduled to start this year. It highlights projects focused on preserving, modernizing, and expanding the County's transport infrastructure.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle stated, “We’re pleased to provide residents with a convenient platform for information and updates that will help them move around the County in a safe and efficient manner throughout the 2025 construction season.” The map, designed to be user-friendly on mobile devices, lists 29 projects. This spring, eight new projects will begin, alongside 10 ongoing and 11 upcoming projects slated to start later this year. The map provides comprehensive details such as start dates, project overviews, benefits, and scopes. Residents are encouraged to check the site frequently for new information as projects commence.

DoTH Superintendent Jennifer “Sis” Killen noted, “The 2025 construction schedule includes activities that will benefit over 34 municipalities across the County.” Planned work encompasses roadway improvements, bridge projects, traffic signal upgrades, drainage initiatives, and larger-scale endeavors.

The map features various interactive options for exploring project sites, allowing users to search by address, view highlighted map sections, or use navigation features to cycle through the projects. The map is available at www.cookcountyil.gov/service/highway-construction-projects.

In addition to the countywide projects, DoTH has collaborated with several villages for major undertakings, including those along Old Orchard Road, Central Avenue Bridge, and Franklin Street/Green Street. These projects, which have varying completion targets from 2025 to 2027, are at different stages of the construction process.
