Jesús "Chuy" García, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 4th district, has been vocal on social media regarding various political issues. García has served in Congress since 2019, succeeding Luis Gutiérrez. He previously held positions in the Illinois Senate and the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

On January 29, 2025, García expressed his long-standing opposition to the use of Guantanamo Bay as an immigrant detention camp. He stated: "I’ve been advocating for the closure of #Guantanamo for years. This idea of turning it into an immigrant detention camp is cruel, morally reprehensible, and raises even more concerns about civil rights and liberties."

The following day, January 30, 2025, García criticized the President's comments during a time of tragedy at DCA. He tweeted: "Leaders bring us together during tragic times. With his racist and inflammatory comments, the President is telling us he is not interested in leading. It does nothing to help the families affected by the tragedy at DCA last night."

On January 31, 2025, García stood with Representative Delia Ramirez to support their community amidst what they perceive as fear spread by the current administration. He affirmed: "Stood with @repdeliaramirez to remind our community: you are not alone! As this administration spreads fear, we’ll keep defending immigrant families and empowering our community to know their rights. We are not afraid, and we will not be silenced!"
