Discussion Related to Adopting a Village Ordinance Concerning Commercial Filming within Village Boundaries
Assistant Village Manager Stevie Ferrari discusses the potential adoption of a Village Ordinance concerning commercial filming within Village boundaries. Currently there is no process codified; however, license agreements are developed with the Village Attorney per request. Assistant Village Manager Stevie Ferrari requests staff input on the cost recovery process as commercial filming requires staff resources to ensure public safety. Options proposed include assessing fees individually, implementing a fee schedule in the proposed ordinance, no cost recovery in ordinance, or recouping fees in another way. Assistant Village Manager Stevie Ferrari also requests Village Board input on identifying a permit process and appropriate fees. Staff proposes the inclusion of acknowledgement and assumed responsibility, communication to impacted areas, insurance documents, and site plan to be included in a potential permit. Assistant Village Manager Stevie Ferrari requests Village Board input on the choice between the adoption of a permit or continue individual license agreements. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Ketchmark, Cote, Kaluzny, Gilhooley, and Hendricks.
