Village of Brookfield Committee of the Whole met Aug. 26

Discussion of Case 24-12 Request for a Final Planned Development for Property Located at 8845 Burlington Avenue

Planning Division Manager Kate Portillo provides some background information on the building and its proposed use. All five variations are discussed. At the June 27, 2024, Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting, a favorable 7-0 vote was issued on the case. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Hendricks, Ketchmark, and Cote.

Discussion of Case 24-13 Request for a Variance from §62-75 Bulk, Yard, and Space Requirements to Build an Enclosed Porch for 3132 Park Avenue

Planning Division Manager Kate Portillo provides some background information on the case. The variation is discussed. At the July 25, 2024, Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting, a favorable 7-0 vote was issued on the case.

Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustee Kaluzny. Discussion of the Potential Construction and Funding Options for the OSLAD Grant Proposal for Creekside Park

Parks and Recreation Director Luke Gundersen provides some background information about the project. Information includes the choice in design of play equipment as well as budgeting for a bridge connecting Creekside Park to South Kiwanis Park. Megha Patel from the South Kiwanis Park Planning Task Force presents to the Village Board regarding community outreach for South Kiwanis. Daniel Wilson from Wight & Company also presents to the Village Board discussing park equipment. Village Manager Tim Wiberg addresses the Village Board regarding budgeting for a bridge. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Gilhooley, Ketchmark, Kaluzny, Hendricks, Narimatsu, and Cote.

2023 Annual Audit Report (Annual Comprehensive Financial Report) and 2023 Management Letter

Finance Director Doug Cooper provides some background information on the audit report including general fund reserves being at 24%. Ed Tracy from Selden Fox makes a presentation to the Village Board. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustee Cote.

Consideration of an Agreement for the Secured Lockup of Arrestees at the Berwyn Police Department

Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla provides some background information on the current lockup process with North Riverside. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustee Ketchmark.

PUBLIC COMMENT

Brian Sabrowski comments on injuries at parks.

Marie Duffek comments on the OSLAD grant funding.

Steve Eddie comments on the proposed bridge connecting Creekside Park to South Kiwanis Park.
