The Village of Brookfield invites residents to attend a Public Information Meeting regarding proposed improvements to Grand Boulevard from Grant Avenue to Prairie Avenue and Brookfield Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Woodside Avenue, Woodside Avenue from Brookfield Avenue to Parkview Avenue, Parkview Avenue from Woodside Avenue to Golf Road, and on Golf Road from Parkview Avenue to Washington Avenue.

The purpose of the meeting is to seek public input and comments on the proposed preliminary design plans. The meeting will be conducted in an informal open house format from 4 to 6 p.m. on July 16, 2024, in the Council Chamber of Brookfield Village Hall, 8820 Brookfield Ave.

Exhibits will be on display for viewing, and representatives from the Village and their consultant will be available for discussion and to answer questions on an individual basis.

The streetscape improvements will consist of removal and replacement of existing lighting, new concrete sidewalk with a 2-foot-wide strip of brick pavers at the back of curb, removal and replacement of tree grates with new trees, brick paver crosswalks, masonry seat wall, and new electrical connections for improved event experiences. Pedestrian lighting will be installed on the north side of Brookfield Avenue from Prairie Avenue to Arden Avenue.

The project is scheduled for construction in Spring and Summer of 2025. The Village has secured federal funding for 80% of the project or over $3.5 million of the projected $4.4 million in estimated project costs.

Written comments may be submitted at the meeting, mailed to Vince Smith, Director of Public Works, Village of Brookfield, 8820 Brookfield Ave., Brookfield, IL 60513 or emailed to vsmith@brookfieldil.gov until July 23, 2024.

This meeting will be accessible to persons with a disability in compliance with current accessibility standards prepared by the Capital Development Board. Persons with a disability planning to attend and needing special accommodations should contact Vince Smith at the Brookfield Public Works at 708-485-2540 or vsmith@brookfieldil.gov.
