Village of Brookfield Committee of the Whole met June 10

Discussion of Case 24-06 Request for Zoning Variances from §62-75 Bulk, Yard, and Space Requirements and §62-450 Extensions; Expansions; Enlargements; Intensity of Nonconforming Buildings and Structures for 4172 Blanchan Avenue

Village Planner Kate Portillo gives some background information about the homeowner and the building. At the May 27th Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, there was a unanimous favorable recommendation with 5 ayes and 0 nays. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustee Hendricks.

Civiltech Presentation for the Ogden Avenue Corridor Improvements Jim Tibble from Civiltech provides background information on the content of Ogden Avenue Corridor Improvements. The content of the Phase 1 study is discussed and a timeframe of Contract Plan preparation as well as construction. A discussion over design alternatives and parking is discussed.

Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustees Cote, Gilhooley, Narimatsu, Hendricks, Kaluzny, and Ketchmark. Village Engineer Derek Treichel asks questions to Jim Tibble from Civiltech and answers questions from Trustee Ketchmark.

Amend the Rank of Fire Captain to Battalion Chief

Fire Chief Jim Adams presents the current rank structure as well as the proposed rank structure. The difference of the roles and access to training opportunities Captains and Battalion Chiefs have are discussed as well as MABAS responsibilities and FEMA courses. Comments and questions are made by President Garvey and Trustee Gilhooley,

PUBLIC COMMENT

Fire Chief Jim Adams comments on the safety as a result of a crossing that had flashing lights (RRFB: Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons) and a pedestrian refuge island. Steve Sabourin comments on a similar crossing that was quickly taken down at the intersection of Wolf Road and LaGrange Road near Interstate 294 as well as drivers moving over the curb when exiting the car wash on Eberly Avenue to enter onto Ogden Avenue. Police Officer Daniel McCarthy states that there have been no crossing guards at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Ogden Avenue since 2019.
