Village of Broadview President and Board of Trustees met June 3

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

I. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Board Meeting of Monday, June 3, 2024 was called to order by Mayor Thompson at 7:35 p.m., in the Council Chambers at 2350 South 25th Avenue, Broadview, IL 60155.

ROLL CALL

Upon roll call by Kevin McGrier, Village Clerk, the following answered Present: Trustee(s) J. Shelby, A. Senior, J. Abraham, S. Armour, J. Miller (Arrived late 7:36pm), Mayor Thompson Absent: P. Chao-Malave,

There being a quorum the meeting was called to order.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG

Everyone recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

PLEDGE OF CIVILITY

Clerk McGrier recited the Pledge of Civility

*Trustee Miller arrived at 7:36pm

MOMENT OF SILENCE

Everyone joined in a moment of silence.

A motion by Trustee Shelby and seconded by Trustee Armour to suspend the regular order of the meeting and go directly to Item X – A.

V. CONSIDERATION TO APPROVE THE FOLLOWING MINUTES:

• Minutes from the May 6, 2024 Regular Board meeting (Tabled from last) Motion to approve by Trustee Senior and Seconded by Trustee Abraham

Discussion: Clerk McGrier mentioned corrections that were received and made regarding the minutes.

Motion to approve by Trustee Miller and Seconded by Trustee Abraham

Discussion:. Trustee Armour mentioned that she only received the minutes that afternoon and did not have a chance yet to review them. Mayor Thompson then asked for a superseding motion to table until the next meeting to allow time for review.

A superseding motion to table the minutes until the next meeting were made by Trustee Miller and seconded by Trustee Armour.

Discussion: Trustee Shelby read the warrant list of bills over $2500. Trustee Armour had questions, answered by Chief Mills and Mayor Thompson.

Trustee Abraham yielded the floor to PW Director Ames in order to give updates to activities and improvements at the Public Works Department

A. SWEARING IN OF PROBATIONARY POLICE OFFICERS: CALVIN D. BROOKS, CARMEN CALVILLO, TREVOR J. HICKS, AND JENNIFER PORTILLO.

All officers were sworn in and Chief Mills gave a brief summary of facts on each officer.

A motion by Trustee and seconded by Trustee was made to return to the regular order of the Board meeting.

B. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING EXPENSES RELATED TO TRUSTEE ANDREA SENIOR AND TRUSTEE SHELIA ARMOUR’S ATTENDANCE AT THE NATIONAL BLACK CAUCUS OF LOCAL ELECTED OFFICIALS (“NBC-LEO”) SUMMER CONFERENCE FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS.

Discussion: Mayor Thompson asked for a superseding motion to table this item until the next board meeting.
