Parent Patrol volunteers were honored for 15 years of service to the school children of the Town of Cicero at a luncheon hosted on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Cicero Community Center. Town President Larry Dominick and the Town of Cicero Board of Trustees Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari, Collector Fran Reitz, and Trustees Victor Garcia, Bob Porod, John Cava, and Blanca Vargas joined Parent Patrol Coordinator Ismael Vargas and officials from the town’s local school district to celebrate the anniversary.

“We are so proud of the Parent Patrols which help to keep our children safe and engage our families and parents directly in providing guidance and support to our children as they walk to and from school each day,” President Dominick said. “It is inspiring to see how this program has grown with the support of the Town of Cicero Board of Trustees, the schools, and its coordinator Ismael Vargas.”

President Dominick launched the Parent Patrols program to support school children as they travel daily. The initiative began with ten Parent Patrols and now includes over 200 volunteers serving District 99 and District 201.

The event featured a special luncheon and presentations to Parent Patrol members. Attendees included Police Chief Thomas Boyle, Deputy Superintendent Luis Gutierrez, Fire Chief Jeff Penzkofer, Senior Center Director Diana Dominick, Morton High School District 201 Superintendent Timothy Truesdale, District 99 School Board President Tom Tomschin and Vice President Derek Dominick, along with District 99 Superintendent Dr. Aldo Calderon.
