Village of Franklin Park Tree Preservation Commission met May 21

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

I. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

II. ROLL CALL

III. APPROVAL AND SIGNING OF FEBRUARY 20th, 2024 MINUTES

IV. BUSINESS

1. SFPFD Smolen updates: Grants, Planted trees, Earth Day, Arbor Day

2. Joan Tree/Bee website updates

3. Park District brochure: said no to event ads other than park district events or collaborations

4. Community Hall confirmed by Sandra (Mayor’s assistant) reserved for seminar: October 12th, from 2-4

a. Refreshments and event budget

b. Request Speakers, a maximum of 4 to allow for longer presentation, refreshment break, and Q & A:

1. Kelsey Shaw (Possibility Place) $150 per engagement and should request a few months in advance

2. Village Engineer

3. Xerces society Speaker

4. Tree Keepers

5. Wild Ones

5. Veterans Park District offers (1/2 page) ad space for the seasonal program guides, developing 3 yearly brochures. The cost is $500 for a ½ page ad per issue. The deadline for each is estimated to be the 20th for each seasonal brochure:

Summer issue -March 20th

Fall issue - June 20th

Winter/Spring - October 20th

6. Promote Seminar through Fall issue? Promote Seminar through Eventbrite?

7. Continue discussion and revision of Tree Committee Guidelines/Goals

8. Upcoming:

a. Franklin Park Library ‘Bee Informed’ event 7/15 @4pm, Library ½ hr presentation, and a craft to make up the remaining ½ hr

b. Railroad Daze June 6-9.
