On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, a special Mother’s Day celebration was held for several hundred seniors. The event was hosted by Town President Larry Dominick, the Town of Cicero Board of Trustees, and the Cicero Senior Center at the Cicero Community Center. The festive occasion featured music, dancing, a breakfast buffet, and special gifts and services for the senior mothers.
Each senior mother received a special gift from the town to commemorate the occasion. They also enjoyed pampering services such as nail and hair treatments from various sponsors. Diana Dominick, Senior Director, welcomed everyone at the start of this annual celebration.
"Thank you for coming to our special Mother’s Day celebration. I want to thank everyone who made this event possible, who truly care for the seniors in our community," Mrs. Dominick said.
She expressed her gratitude towards all sponsors, town officials and her staff including Princess Tejeda and Isabella Aguilar who helped coordinate the event. Mrs. Dominick also thanked President Larry Dominick and all members of the Cicero Board of Trustees "for their unwavering support for the Senior Center’s events and activities."
Many officials attended and praised the event while celebrating with the seniors. Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari wished a Happy Mother’s Day to all senior attendees at the Cicero Community Center. He urged everyone to take some time over the weekend to recognize Cicero's mothers for their hard work in supporting their families and community.
Clerk Maria Maria Punzo-Arias also wished all mothers in the Town of Cicero and Senior Center a Happy Mother’s Day while enjoying dancing during the event.
"This is another great event brought to you by Town President Larry Dominick and organized by Diana Dominick and her amazing team," Mrs. Punzo-Arias said.
The Senior Mother’s Day celebration was co-sponsored by several local groups and businesses including School District 99 and School District 201, and Cicero businesses such as State Farm Insurance, How to Fade Hair Barber School, El Campeon Pina Colada, the Bell Mar Beauty College and the Capelli Beauty School.
"We are grateful for all the support that we received from the community and businesses to celebrate our senior moms," Mrs. Dominick said.
