Cook County’s Solid Waste Coordinator, Anthony Tindall, has been acknowledged by Crain’s Chicago Business as a distinguished figure in sustainability. Tindall, who has been a vital part of the County’s Department of Environment and Sustainability for almost two years, has been instrumental in implementing programs aimed at enhancing recycling and waste diversion efforts in the suburban municipalities of Cook County.

Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle commended Tindall's efforts, stating, “I am grateful to Anthony for his dedication to helping all of our communities, especially those with lower incomes and fewer resources, become more sustainable. Anthony’s hard work is making a real difference in bringing expanded services to places like parts of the South Suburbs, that historically have experienced disinvestment and a lower level of government services."

Tindall's notable achievement includes the creation of the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM Center), which has garnered recognition with the Illinois Recycling Association’s 2023 Outstanding Public Sector Award. Speaking on his accomplishments, Tindall expressed his pride in contributing to the County’s environmental, economic, and social progress, stating, “I am honored to be recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business for doing the work that I am so passionate about.”

Prior to his role in Cook County, Tindall served as the policy and sustainability manager at the Cook County Forest Preserves for nine years, where he spearheaded various sustainability initiatives. His dedication to sustainability was recognized with awards such as the Best Green Practices Award from the Illinois Association of Park Districts.

Tindall's educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in political science from Johnson C. Smith University and a Master of Public Administration degree from DePaul University’s School of Public Service. He is actively involved in various civic engagements, holding positions such as secretary of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Recycling Foundation and a member of the National Advisory Board for the Union of Concerned Scientists.
