The City of Berwyn and the Berwyn Public Library celebrated Arbor Day Friday, April 26, 2024, with a new tree planting on the library grounds. The City of Berwyn's Public Works Forestry Department planted the tree and shared information on how to protect newly planted trees during the upcoming Cicada season. The Berwyn Public Library hosted an Arbor Day themed story time for children to learn about trees and nature and older adults were able to participate in an agility class for seniors. Lunch was provided by Alderman Richard Leja. The event ended with a rain barrel raffle sponsored by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Marcelino Garcia.
In a statement, the event organizer expressed, "¡La Ciudad de Berwyn Celebra el Día del Árbol! La Ciudad de Berwyn y la Biblioteca Pública de Berwyn celebraron el Día del Árbol el viernes, 26 de abril de 2024, con la plantación de un nuevo árbol en los terrenos de la biblioteca."
