Lyons Township High School's South Campus faced a security scare on April 22, 2024, when the Western Springs Police Department received a "swatting" call regarding the school. The WSPD promptly informed the school administration of the situation.

After investigating the matter, the WSPD determined that the call was a hoax. Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough sweep of the South Campus facilities. By 7:15 am, the police completed their search and confirmed that the building was secure, allowing classes to proceed as scheduled.

In light of the incident, it has been decided that there will be an increased police presence at the South Campus throughout the day and during dismissal. This measure aims to reassure students, parents, and staff of their safety in the aftermath of the false alarm.
