City of Northlake City Council met Dec. 18.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: Alderman Feldmann

Alderman Straube

Alderman Sosa

Alderman Johnson

Alderman Grochowski

Alderman Patti

ABSENT: Alderman Contreras

Alderman Urbina

OTHERS PRESENT: Ken Beres, Chief Of Police

Tony Faciano, Public Works

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Mark Sterk, City Attorney

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 4, 2023. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 4, 2023; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING

HELD ON DECEMBER 4, 2023 CARRIED

Police Chief swore in four new police officers: Bill Johnson, Alexandra Nava, Erik Cohn, and Sean Palm.

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Sosa, Johnson, Grochowski And Patti

Absent: Aldermen Contreras And Urbina

Nays: None

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin reminded everyone the next City Council meeting is on January 8, 2024. There will be a special hearing at 6:45 regarding King Arthur #26. There is only one meeting in January.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-26-2023; A Resolution Authorizing an Application for the Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funding for the Rehabilitation of Wolf Road Between Lake Street and North Avenue, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Absent: Aldermen Contreras And Urbina

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-26-2023; A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR THE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP) FUNDING FOR THE REHABILITATION OF WOLF ROAD BETWEEN LAKE STREET AND NORTH AVENUE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-27-2023; A Resolution Authorizing an Application for the Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funding for the Rehabilitation of Northwest Avenue (South) Between North Avenue and 555 Northwest Avenue, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-28-2023; A Resolution Authorizing an Application for the Surface Transportation Program (STP) Funding for the Rehabilitation of Northwest Avenue (North) Between 555 Northwest Avenue and Grand Avenue, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-28-2023; A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN APPLICATION FOR THE SURFACE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM (STP) FUNDING FOR THE REHABILITATION OF NORTHWEST AVENUE (NORTH) BETWEEN 555 NORTHWEST AVENUE AND GRAND AVENUE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED

Alderman Straube made a motion to approve Ordinance O-27-2023; An Ordinance Allowing the Sale of Alcohol to be a Permitted Use in the B-1, B-2, I-1 and I-2 Zoning Districts; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-27-2023; AN ORDINANCE ALLOWING THE SALE OF ALCOHOL TO BE A PERMITTED USE IN THE B-1, B-2, I-1 AND I-2 ZONING DISTRICTS CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve the purchase of a 2024 Vactor 2100i Sewer Cleaner for $554,234.60; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF A 2024 VACTOR 2100I SEWER CLEANER FOR $554,234.60 CARRIED

Alderman Feldmann made a motion to approve the Police Chief Employment Agreement; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE THE POLICE CHIEF EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-28-2023; An Ordinance Regarding the Cook County Paid Leave Ordinance for the City of Northlake, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Sosa. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
