Brookfield Fire Chief Jim Adams officially welcomed Chad Davis as a new first responder to the community during the village’s recent board meeting.

“Chad is our quiet man of the Brookfield Fire Department,” Adams said during the Feb. 13 meeting. “I'm not sure if he's different around the other firefighters, but around me, he's usually quiet, respectful, and always has a smile on his face.”

Village officials welcomed Davis, who was sworn in by the village clerk as he stood next to his mother and father.

“He has demonstrated that he is a good firefighter paramedic, and I've seen him work very hard at incidents and around the station,” Adams said. “Although quiet, he is very knowledgeable and has a great attitude. Chad has been a welcome addition to the fire department family, and the village is lucky to have him.”

Davis was hired by Brookfield in January of 2022, and recently completed his year of probationary status earning his full shield badge, which his mother pinned on during the ceremony.

Davis was born and raised in Illinois. After graduating high school in Elmhurst, he joined the force of Superior Ambulance in 2016, where he worked as an EMT until he earned his paramedic’s certification in 2019. He then started working as a part-time firefighter paramedic with the Villa Park Fire Department and in 2020 also joined the Oak Park Fire Protection District. He worked to earn his Illinois State Fire Marshal certifications for basic operations firefighter, fire service, vehicle operator, and hazmat operations at the Romeoville Fire Academy. He then also earned his fire apparatus engineer from the Northern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy and his vehicle and machinery operations certificate from the Illinois Fire Safety Institute.

The Brookfield Fire Department is one of a few in the area that has a full-time staff since its inception. The village has two fire stations in town, one on either side of the railroad tracks, and the staff is made up of a fire chief, three captains, three lieutenants, and 15 to 20 firefighter/paramedics.
