Cicero School District 99 Board of Education met Dec, 14.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Public Hearing for Tax Levy Version 1

I. The public hearing was called to order by President Tomschin at 6:30 p.m.

President Tomschin requested a motion to appoint a Secretary Pro-Tem. It was moved by Member Manouzi and seconded by Member Segura to appoint Member Couch as Secretary Pro-Tem. Roll call: President Tomschin, Members Manouzi, Segura, Couch and Moreno. Nays: None. Absent: Vice-President Dominick and Secretary Terracino. Motion carried.

II. Roll call was conducted and the following members were recorded present: President Tomschin, Members Couch, Manouzi, Moreno and Segura. Absent: Vice-President Dominick and Secretary Terracino.

III. A quorum was established.

IV. The pledge to the flag was recited and it was led by students from Drexel School. President Tomschin noted it was the best pledge he heard in his life and thanked the students for an amazing job.

President Tomschin requested a moment of silence for the recent passing of Arlene Rybicki, who was a lunch supervisor in the district.

V. Presentation of the Tax Levy

Ewa Klis, Manager of Business Affairs, gave a PowerPoint presentation of the Tax Levy for 2022. She noted that the Tax Levy was tentatively presented to the Board at the meeting last month. She briefed them on the filing process and indicated that the first payment was anticipated to be received in March 2023. She also noted that the district is capped at 5% over last year’s extension, or consumer price index, whichever is less. She noted that school districts never receive more than requested or what is entitled by law. She noted that it was projected that the district would receive approximately $29,989,511.00. She asked the Board if they had any questions, they indicated none.

VI. Board Member Comments

President Tomschin asked the Board Members if they had any comments. There were no comments presented.

VII. Audience Comments

President Tomschin opened the Public Hearing for comments from the audience. There were none presented.

VIII. Adjournment

It was moved by Member Moreno and seconded by Member Couch to adjourn from the Public Hearing at 6:38 p.m. Roll call: Yeas: President Tomschin, Members Couch, Manouzi, Moreno and Segura. Nays: None. Absent: Vice-President Dominick and Secretary Terracino. Motion carried.
