City of Northlake City Council met Dec. 19.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

PRESENT: Alderman Straube

Alderman Johnson

Alderman Urbina

Alderman Grochowski

Alderman Patti

ABSENT: Alderman Feldmann

Alderman Garcia

Alderman Contreras

OTHERS PRESENT: Ken Beres, Chief Of Police

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Mark Rail, Public Works

Mark Sterk, City Attorney

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 5, 2022. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 5, 2022; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 5, 2022 CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the Warrants and Vouchers; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Straube, Johnson, Urbina, Grochowski And Patti

ABSENT: Aldermen Feldmann, Contreras And Garcia

NAYS: None

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin stated that Alderman Feldmann will be heading up the advisory committee regarding backyard chickens and Alderman Urbina will be heading up the advisory committee regarding live bands; that January 9th is the next city council meeting; and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Alternative Bids for Poured In Place Surfacing at Kiwanis Playground to Clauss Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $114,229.00; seconded by Alderman Straube. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ABSENT: Aldermen Feldmann, Contreras And Garcia

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE ALTERNATIVE BIDS FOR POURED IN PLACE SURFACING AT KIWANIS PLAYGROUND TO CLAUSS BROTHERS, INC. CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Ordinance O-17-2022; An Ordinance Establishing Refuse Disposal Fees for Condominium Buildings; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Straube, Johnson, Urbina, Grochowski And Patti

ABSENT: Aldermen Feldmann, Contreras And Garcia

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-17-2022; AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING REFUSE DISPOSAL FEES FOR CONDOMINIUM BUILDINGS CARRIED

Alderman Straube made a motion to approve the proposal from REIL, Inc. for the repair parts for Hansen Park Playground; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL: Aldermen Straube, Johnson, Urbina, Grochowski And Patti

ABSENT: Aldermen Feldmann, Contreras And Garcia

NAYS: None

MOTION TO APPROVE THE PROPOSAL FROM REIL, INC. FOR THE REPAIR PARTS FOR HANSEN PARK PLAYGROUND CARRIED

A resident had questions regarding the city’s sales tax distribution; another resident also had questions regarding sales tax distribution; a resident donated a historical McDonald’s coffee mug to the city.

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote.

MOTION TO ADJOURN CARRIED
