Dominican Falls at Home in First Home Game Back From Break

The Dominican University men's basketball team hosted Marian University this afternoon in the first home game back from winter break. 

Results:
Marian: 77
Dominican: 61

How it Happened:
-In the first half, the Sabres shot 41.9% from the field, while holding the Stars to 26.9% shooting from the field. 
-Going into the half, Marian led 37-22
-The second half saw a lot more scoring by both teams as the score was 40-39 in favor of Marian. 
-DU could not overcome the poor outside shooting only converting 2 of 16 attempts from behind the arc. 
-Dominican won the bench points comparison and the points in the paint battle 26-15 and 28-26 respectfully. 
-The Stars also shot 24 free throws in the game and made 17 of them. 

Shining Stars:
-Junior Jacob Riedl had a double-double finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 
-Junior Andre Bennett finished with 19 points, shooting 7-10 from the field and making all 5 free throw attempts. 
-Junior Robert Taylor had a big day coming off of the bench scoring 15 points and collecting one block.

Points: Bennett (19)
Rebounds: Riedl (10)
Assists: Riedl, West, Lewis (4)
Steals: West (3)
Blocks: Scott (3)

What's Next:
Dominican will be back in action Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Division Street rival Concordia Chicago.
