Stars Lose in Conference Opener
The Dominican University men's basketball team hosted Benedictine University on Tuesday. This was the first NACC matchup for the Stars this season.
Results:
Benedictine: 78
Dominican: 63
How it Happened:
-DU struggled from the field in the first half, shooting just 44 percent from the field.
-Dominican's defense held tough, but trailed 33-27 at halftime
-The Stars shot just 13 free throws compared to Benedictine's 30.
-DU made just 3 of 10 shots from behind the arc in the second half.
-Dominican won the turnover battle, but couldn't overcome the free throw discrepancy.
Shining Stars:
-Junior Jacob Riedl was red hot, making 5 of 5 from three.
-Junior Robert Taylor and Riedl held their own on the glass and combined for 12 rebounds.
-Junior Andre Bennett and Freshman Lathan Lewis were the main contributors and combined for 8 assists.
