Berkeley School District 87 Board of Education Facilities Committee met Aug. 29.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Chairman Hightower called the meeting to order at 6:35 pm in the Boardroom of the Administration Office, 1200 N. Wolf Road, Berkeley, IL. Roll call was taken, and the following members were present- Hightower, Chavez, Jackson, and O'Connell. Also present were Dr. Sullivan, Mrs. Vince, Mrs. Zimmerman, Mrs. Travis, Mr. White, Mrs. Valdez, and Mr. Shelton.

New Business Jeremy Roling and Ricardo Anguiano, Gilbane Project Managers reviewed the Executive Summary for August and showed drone footage of the MacArthur/Sunnyside and the Riley/Northlake projects.

Jeremy explained Construction Change Orders #84-89 for the Board.

D87 CO #84 – this change order incorporates PK-42 issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project on 6/30/22. The modifications within this PR included revised access doors required for the mechanical fire dampers at the slab level in Area D and the addition of solid surface wall caps on the balcony railings in the cafeteria.

D87 CO #85 -This change order incorporates PR-44 (Part 1) issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project on 7/13/22 for framing clarifications, the addition of break metal enclosures at window mullions, and the addition of a roof drain on the front entrance canopy.

D87 CO #86-This change order incorporates PR-45 issued by Wold Architects for the Sunnyside & MacArthur project on 7/27/22 for the addition of four (4) dedicated electrical circuits for the microwaves in the 2nd floor staff lounges.

D87 CO #87 - This change order incorporates PR-11 issued by Wold Architects for the Riley Northlake project on 6/13/22 for the removal of glass above classroom entrance doors captured under PR-7 pricing. Door header walls are to remain per the base bid documents and are not to be affected by PR-11

D87 CO #88 - This change order incorporates PR-13 issued by Wold Architects for the Riley Northlake project on 6/17/22 to remove existing casework and to furnish and install new Northlake Artroom casework.

D87 CO #89 -This change order incorporates PR-21 issued by Wold Architects for the Riley Northlake project on 7/18/22 to remove the furnishing of the BAS Workstation. The workstation is to be provided by the school and installation is to remain within scope.

Jessalyn Kelly reviewed the A/V project and improvement change orders #1.1-1.5.

C0-1.1 Accounts for the change in equipment costs from equipment that was discontinued. The cost indicates the difference from the original specification to the closest specification available that meets design intent. $2,239.92

C0-1.2 incorporated field changes to account for constructed conditions. Coordination of on-site work and electrical device locations requires a change in the length of HDMI cord with a cost difference as reflected attached. $ 4,830.00

CO-1.3 Accounts for the change in equipment costs from equipment that was discontinued at Sunnyside and MacArthur. The cost indicates the difference from the original specification to the closest specification available that meets design intent. $3,359.00

CO-1.4 Accounts for the change in equipment to account for rough in locations that were coordinated and adjusted during construction. The new lens meets the installed location needs in field. $ 902.00

CO-1.5 incorporated field changes to account for constructed conditions. Coordination of on-site work and electrical device locations requires a change in the length of HDMI cord with a cost difference as reflected attached. $ 9.030.00

Jeremy Roling started by giving an update on Sunnyside/MacArthur. He stated that roofing details are complete along with framing and glass around both buildings, Bathroom features and cabinets are being installed throughout Sunnyside. Drywall and ceiling tile installation is taking place throughout the buildings. Substantial completion is still set for the first weeks of November. He then proceeded to discuss the projects budget update.

Ricardo Anguiano gave an update on the Riley/Northlake project. He stated that they are finalizing demolition. Site excavation is complete. Installation of site utilities is in progress. This includes storm and sanitary lines. The erection of the structural steel and metal deck for the new addition is also in progress. This project is still currently 1-2 months behind schedule.

The team will bring more information and recommendations to the next Facilities Committee meeting on September 26, 2022.

Member O'Connell moved, seconded by Jackson, that the meeting be adjourned at 7:13 pm. Voice Vote (4-0)
