Occupational Therapy, MS Information Session on November 16

4

West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently issued the following announcement.

For some people, life is full of challenges. Some are developmental. Some are medical. Some are related to a person's mental health, social disadvantages or even aging. But occupational therapy services can help them to maximize their independence, satisfaction and participation in their everyday life activities. Join Lewis University's graduate admission counselor, Nancy Wiksten, and Dr. Susan Charnley, program director, for an information session where they'll walk you through the admission process and tell you how their fully accredited program can prepare solution-oriented, critical thinkers like yourself to enjoy a potentially rewarding career as an occupational therapist.

ACCREDITED MASTER'S-DEGREE LEVEL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM The entry-level occupational therapy master's degree program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 616 Executive Blvd., Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-.4929. ACOTE's telephone number c/o AOTA is (301) 652-AOTA and its web address is www.acoteonline.org. Graduates of this program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). In addition, all states require licensure in order to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination. Note that a felony conviction may affect a graduate's ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure. Additionally, students must complete 24 weeks of Level II fieldwork within 18 months following completion of  the didactic portion of the program.
