Gary Rabine for Governor has issued the following press release:
Woodstock, IL – When school administrators moved to shut down a Turning Point USA event at Lyons Township High School, a larger than expected crowd gathered at a nearby park where Gary Rabine joined other conservative leaders in rallying for freedom.
“Stand Strong,” Rabine said. “With God on our side, who can be against us? Don't let anyone turn you away from this great organization.”
The rally was originally scheduled to be held at the school, but 30 minutes prior to the event, school administrators shut it down. Earlier this year, Lyons Township High School blocked students from forming a Turning Point USA chapter.
“On Tuesday night, I witnessed how a liberal school administration uses sneaky tactics to silence young conservative voices,” said Turning Point USA’s Ambassador Lexi Lach. “The left’s assault on free-market, conservative voices are on full display. They are using every tactic and loophole in the book to prevent these brave high schoolers from peacefully assembling to talk about ideas and beliefs that unite them together. Fortunately, these kids are resilient and determined.”
Lyon’s Township School Administrators claimed on Tuesday night that they received a credible threat of violence from a local Antifa group, a claim that was never substantiated.
“What we saw at Lyons Township High School was yet another attempt to cancel conservative voices, said Congressional candidate Jack Lombardi. “This was yet the latest attempt by the radical socialists to intimidate and silence young conservative voices. As we have seen across the nation, school administrators caves in. Yet the young conservatives would not be silenced. They held the event across the street to reaffirm the values that have made America great. These young students will not be silenced, and I am proud to join them and fight the wokeism in our schools that seek to destroy our country. In Congress I will work to ensure that conservative voices are not silenced by the thought police of progressivism.”
Rabine said it is imperative for citizens to stand up and oppose the efforts to take away our freedoms.
“Our liberties are being threatened and it is time we all recognized what is happening right in our backyard before it is too late,” Rabine said. “What is happening here goes beyond mere disagreements on public policy. Public officials have a duty to obey the Constitution. Suppressing freedom of speech is something we all as Americans should adamantly oppose.”
