Patty Chlada feels her strengths are what the Community Consolidated School District 146 school board needs at this point and time.
“I feel that I am a critical thinker and that I will be able to apply this to my duties as a District 146 board member,” Chlada told Patch.com. “Moving forward, this board is going to need to work together and do a lot of critical thinking in order to figure out how to navigate the spectrum of challenges that our schools face.”
Chlada is part of the 146 Forward slate of candidates, which has made its mission clear.
“The single most pressing issue facing any school district right now is the [COVID-19] pandemic and helping our children get back to school safely,” she said. “More than ever, our children need stability in their lives, and I feel it is essential that we get them back into a stable learning environment as soon as possible.”
Chlada said voters should trust her because the way she always wants the best for people is easy to see.
“I am a very approachable and supportive person with the encouragement and strength to help all people reach their goals,” she said. “I listen when people talk and value what they have to say.”
An office manager by trade, the 49-year-old Chlada resides in Orland Park with her police superintendent husband and their three children, all of who have graduated or attend District 146 schools.
The 146Forward slate includes Jill Dunlap, Julie Berry, Rick Lloyd and Chlada. The elections are April 6.
