City of Northlake Council met Jan. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.

Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

ROLL CALL:

Present: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Gonzalez, Grochowski And Patti

Others Present: Mark Sterk, Attorney

Norm Nissen, Chief Of Police

Carol Lampard, Finance Director

Tony Faciano, Superintendent Public Works

Mayor Sherwin presented the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 21, 2020. Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the minutes of the city council meeting held on December 21, 2020; seconded by Alderman Grochowski. Mayor Sherwin asked if there were any additions or corrections. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor. The motion carried.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 21, 2020

CITY COUNCIL MEETING CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to reappoint John Morgan to the Youth Commission; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Gonzalez, Grochowski, And Patti

Nays: None

MOTION TO REAPPOINT JOHN MORGAN TO THE YOUTH COMMISSION CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to accept the warrants and vouchers; seconded by Alderman Gonzalez. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTS AND VOUCHERS CARRIED

Mayor Sherwin stated the next meeting would be the 2nd Monday in February and would be the only meeting that month because of President’s Day. The police department has a new video on Facebook regarding the new body cameras. The new garbage service began last week and the transition went smoothly.

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-01-2021; An Ordinance Establishing Impervious Surface Requirements for Residential Zoning Districts and Amending Title 8, Chapter 2 of the Northlake City Code; seconded by Alderman Feldmann. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-01-2021; AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING IMPERVIOUS SURFACE REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL ZONING DISTRICTS AND AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 2 OF THE NORTHLAKE CITY CODE CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to refer to the City of Northlake Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission. In order to build a front addition at 144 E. North Avenue, owner Cuahutemoc Morfin (Cilantro Taco Grill) is requesting the following variance: To encroach on the required 20’ front yard setback with a 13’-8” indoor/outdoor terrace, placing the new building addition from the south face 6”-1” to the south property line in the B-2 Retail and Service Business District; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO REFER A VARIANCE REQUEST TO THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS AND PLAN COMMISSION CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Resolution R-01-2021; A Resolution Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago for the Acquisition, Conversion to and Maintenance of Open Space of Certain Flood Prone Parcels of Real Property Located Along Addison Creek; seconded by Alderman Gonzalez. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Nays: None

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-01-2021; A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE METROPOLITAN WATER RECLAMATION DISTRICT OF GREATER CHICAGO FOR THE ACQUISITION, CONVERSION TO AND MAINTENANCE OF OPEN SPACE OF CERTAIN FLOOD PRONE PARCELS OF REAL PROPERTY LOCATED ALONG ADDISON CREEK CARRIED

Alderman Patti made a motion to approve Ordinance O-02-2021; An Ordinance Vacating an Alley Lying South of North Avenue and West of Gail Avenue in the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Contreras. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

MOTION TO APPROVE ORDINANCE O-02-2021; AN ORDINANCE VACATING AN ALLEY LYING SOUTH OF NORTH AVENUE AND WEST OF GAIL AVENUE IN THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED

Alderman Grochowski made a motion to approve Resolution R-02-2021; A Resolution Authorizing the Acquisition of Vacant Property Located South of Rhodes Avenue and North of Addison Creek in the City of Northlake, Cook County, Illinois; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for the roll.

Roll Call: Aldermen Straube, Feldmann, Contreras, Garcia, Johnson, Gonzalez, Grochowski, And Patti

Nays: None

MOTION TO APPROVE RESOLUTION R-02-2021; A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF VACANT PROPERTY LOCATED SOUTH OF RHODES AVENUE AND NORTH OF ADDISON CREEK IN THE CITY OF NORTHLAKE, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS CARRIED

There being no further business, Alderman Straube made a motion to adjourn; seconded by Alderman Patti. Mayor Sherwin called for a voice vote. All were in favor.
