There were 34 offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Cook County during the second quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the West Cook News.

The data shows that 33 men and one woman were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for sex crimes was 40. The youngest parolee was a 21-year-old man sentenced in 2015, and the oldest was a 65-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Jovan Anderson. He was convicted in 2001 when he was 23 years old. He is now 42.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
