Crowds gathering on weekends in Chicago are making neighbors uneasy as the police work overtime to keep the peace.

Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison tweeted, ‘’Hello Media, This has been a nightly event for weeks! (State's Attorney Kim) Foxx won’t authorize charges for those arrested. CPD orders back off, result: lawlessness.’’

According to CBS Channel 2 in Chicago, the Chicago Police Department says it has reports of people hanging out for hours.

One resident says it is too dangerous to go out and night and he walks his dogs before sunset.

“We don’t feel that safe going out at night,” Chris Ocasio, who lives in the Loop off State Street near Madison Street, said.

Police told the television station that there were complaints of battery, theft and property damage this past weekend. In addition, police said groups of people were out until 1 a.m. before being dispersed by officers.
