Berwyn North School District 98 Board of Education met Oct. 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

A Special Meeting of the Board of Education Members of Berwyn North School District 98 was held Tuesday, October 15, 2019, beginning at 6:30 PM in the District Office.

I. CALL TO ORDER 

Meeting began at 6:41 p.m.

II. ROLL CALL

Members Present: Mounce, Swade, Arenella, Paul-Emile, Cuevas, and Kulis-Kearns Valeriano Members Absent: Pabon

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

The Pledge of Allegiance was let by Board President Mounce.

IV. ADJOURNMENT MOTION TO EXECUTIVE SESSION

Member Swade moved and was seconded by Member Cuevas that the Special Board Meeting of the Board of Education, School District 98 adjourn to Executive session at 6:43 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 for the purpose of discussing the following Items:

1. Student disciplinary cases. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(9).

Ayes: Swade, Arenella, Paul-Emile, Cuevas, Kulis-Kearns Valeriano and Mounce

A. MOTION TO RECONVENE IN REGULAR SESSION

Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Arenella that the Regular Board Meeting of the Board of Education, District 98 reconvenes from Executive Session at 9:36 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019

ROLL CALL:

Ayes: Swade, Arenella, Paul-Emile, Cuevas, Kulis-Kearns Valeriano and Mounce

MOTION TO HAVE STUDENT #106689 – PLACED IN AN ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL IN LIEU OF EXPULSION

Member Arenella moved and was seconded by Member Paul-Emile that the Board have Student # 106689 be placed in an Alternative School in lieu of expulsion. Berwyn North District 98 will cover the cost.

Ayes: Swade, Arenella, Paul-Emile, Kulis-Kearns Valeriano and Mounce Nays: Cuevas

MOTION TO HAVE STUDENT #104923 – FULLFILL CONSEQUENCES IN LIEU OF EXPULSION

Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Arenella that the Board have Student #104923 complete a series of consequences in lieu of expulsion.

Ayes: Swade, Arenella, Paul-Emile, Cuevas, Kulis-Kearns Valeriano and Mounce

Member Paul-Emile moved and was seconded by Member Arenella that the Regular Board Meeting of the Board of Education, District 98 adjourn at 9:38 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
