Village of Broadview Board of Trustees met Aug. 5.

I. CALL TO ORDER
The Regular Board Meeting of Monday, August 5th, 2019 was called to order by Mayor Thompson at 7:31 p.m., in the Council Chambers at 2350 South 25th Avenue, Broadview, IL 60155.
ROLL CALL
Upon roll call by Kevin McGrier, Village Clerk, the following answered Present: Trustee(s) J. Miller, V. Horne J. Tierney, A. Senior, Mayor Thompson, Absent: S. Jones, J. Abraham (Jones arrived at 7:36pm)
There being a quorum the meeting was called to order.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO FLAG
Everyone remained standing and recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

Trustee Horne mentioned the detail on Al Ronan’s invoice is very clear and detailed. Tierney read the warrant list of bills over $2500

A MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS TO PROCEED WITH HIRING A POLICE OFFICER TO FILL THE VACANCY LEFT BY THE RETIREMENT OF COMMANDER MICHAEL KOSIK, TO PROMOTE THE NEXT ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE ON THE LIEUTENANT/COMMANDER ELIGIBILITY LIST TO THE RANK OF LIEUTENANT/COMMANDER, AND TO PROMOTE THE NEXT ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE ON THE SERGEANT’S ELIGIBILITY LIST TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT.

E. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF A LETTER OF INTENT BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW AND THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REGARDING PROPOSED BICYCLIST AND/OR PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE VILLAGE OF BROADVIEW, COUNTY OF COOK, STATE OF ILLINOIS).
Motion by Trustee Horne and Seconded by Trustee Jones
Discussion: Trustee Miller had questions about the responsibility of cleaning the sidewalks. Engineer Jim Goumas from Hancock Engineering answered the Village would be. Trustee Miller also asked about the responsibility of the utility bills. Also, would the project still move forward if the Village did not participate? Goumas also answered that the Village would foot the bill for energy charges. Lastly IDOT would still install the bridge, but would not install the path if Broadview didn’t participate. Trustee Miller asked who would be liable for damages if someone were to get hurt on the path. Atty. Vasselli answered that it would be explored just as if it were a regular sidewalk. Trustee Jones wanted to have the reason for proposal stated for the record, Goumas obliged. Trustee Horne clarified the scope of the path for the residents and gave the Village costs of $17,000. Asks that Finance Department shows information relating to these projects in the future.

• Clerk mentioned the 2nd annual Community Yard sale’s success
• Clerk also mentioned the importance of the 2020 Census
• Clerk mentioned Congressman Danny Davis’ Town Hall meeting at Village Hall on Thursday, Aug 15.
X. VILLAGE PRESIDENT Katrina Thompson
• Mayor Thompson addressed the Pubic comments posed earlier in the meeting
• Mayor Thompson mentioned the robo call sign up list
• Mayor Thompson mentioned the meeting with Facebook which selected the Village of Broadview to assist with our ability to connect and maximize our social media activities.
• Mayor Thompson mentioned the Back to School parade for Lindop Aug 16 at 9am and Proviso East on August 16th at 3pm
