City of Berwyn City Council met June 11.

Mayor Lovero called the Regular Meeting to Order at 8:00 p.m. The following Aldermen responded present on the call of the roll: Lennon, Ramirez. Fejt, Santoy, Ruiz, Avila, and owak. Ald. Avila made a motion, seconded by Ald. Santoyo to excuse Ald. Reardon. The motion carried.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. A moment of silence was observed for the safety of our First Responders. Ald. Avila also asked to remember the young person hit by the B SF train.
Open Forum: Berwyn Development Corp. (BDC) Board President Andy Sotiropolous announced that the BDC's Clean Sweep event was a great success. He also announced the 3'd AIU1Ual Berwyn Pride Walk to be held in the Depot District. Ms. Martie Hemphill asked that the Clerk record the council meetings and document in the Minutes the A YES and NA YS as cast by Aldermen on non-unanimous non-roll call votes. Ana Marin and members of Berwyn Community Action stepped forward and read a letter dated June 11,2019 addressed to the Mayor and Council concerning racial profiling. She distributed copies of the letter to the Mayor and Aldermen and submitted a copy to the Clerk for the record. Ald. Avila announced the Gira de las Campeonas and sponsorship opportunities for the event. He distributed fliers with information on the women's soccer event.
Ald. Avila made the motion, seconded by Ald. Fejt, to approve the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole and Regular Berwyn City Council meeting held on May 28, 2019 as submitted. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Ald. Ramirez made the motion, seconded by Ald. Lennon, to defer Item E-I for two weeks. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Ald. Fejt made the motion. seconded by Ald. Avila, to adopt the Proclamation as presented recognizing the work of the Hiawatha School Our American Voice Club for their civic efforts to add crossing guards for their school. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Ald. Avila made the motion, seconded by Ald. Nowak, to adopt the Resolution for the Appointment of an IMRF Authorized Agent and to appoint Assistant City Administrator Ruth Volbre to the position. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
Ald. Avila made the motion, seconded by Ald. Lennon, to adopt the Ordinance entitled:
An Ordinance Amending Chapter 234, Section 234.02 of the Codified Ordinances Regarding
Ambulance Services for the City of Benvyn, County of Cook, State of Illinois direct the Corporate Authorities to affix the necessary signatures and send it on its way to passage. Clerk Paul called the roll. The motion carried with six voting AYE, one NAY (Ramirez), and one Absent (Reardon).
Ald. Lennon made the motion, seconded by Ald. Fejt, to concur with the Public Works Director's recommendation and award the bid for the 2018 (program year) CDBa Sidewalk and 2019 Shared Cost Replacement Project to M & J Asphalt Paving in the amount not to exceed $208,895.00

• Ald. Ramirez announced a 2nd Ward Meeting scheduled for June 19,2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Unity Lutheran Church Community Room. Ald. Ramirez then made a statement recognizing the work done by Berwyn's LGBTQ community to gain acceptance and recognition.
• Ald. Fejt called a Building and Zoning Committee Meeting for June 26, 2019 at 5:30 p.m.
There being no further business to come before the Council, Ald. Nowak made the motion, seconded by Ald. Lennon, to adjourn at the hour of 8:30 pm. The motion carried by a unanimous voice vote.
